1. Quality Photo Scanning:

Using our High Quality Production Scanners we can provide you great image quality at the best price possible.  All Color Images are scanned at 300 dpi or 600 dpi full color.  600 dpi scan resolution will provide you piece of mind if you want to reproduce or enlarge images.

Option: 2-sided Scanning:  If you have important information written on the back of the photo, we can scan both sides of the photos.

What Resolution should I chose?

This depends if you ever want to enlarge your photos.  

We recommend to scan your photos with 600 dpi.  If your photos are scanned with 300 dpi and you want to enlarge the digital images, you will lose image quality.  With 600 dpi you can enlarge the image later down the road for either print or reproduction in your HD TV.  

2. Correct Image Orientation Included:

vdocs offers the unique Image Orientation Correction Service.  This means we check each image and correct the orientation.  This saves you time in preparing the Photos before you send them to us and you do not need to go through all the image after you receive them and spend time to correct the orientation.  

 How annoying is it to show proudly your digital slide show and you have to bend your neck all the time to see what is on the picture.  This is what you get with the typical Photo Scanning Service.  But Not with vdocs.  We validate each image and correct the orientation.  This is a unique vdocs.

3. Photo Transfer to your PC

After the photo are scanned you receive access to our secure photo download site.  You do not have to wait for the CD.  With vdocs you have immediate access to your photos after they have been scanned.  Easily you can download the scanned photos to your computer and enjoy.  

4. Scanning with Manual Image Adjustment

Get the best out of your images with our Manual Image Correction.   vdocs uses high quality image adjustment software to correct the images.  

Caution:  

By using the Manual Image Adjustment Service you will receive an image that is not as close to the original photo anymore.  Our standard scanning process produces digital images that are a very close reproduction of the original.  Image adjustment changes contrast, brightness, etc.  Color is subjective and everyone has a different preference which image looks better.  Also after the image is image corrected it is in many case difficult to go back to the original image.  

5. Small Size Photos / Large Size Photos / Card boad Pictures

Small Size Photos:

vdocs is one of the very few companies that offers scans from photos that are smaller than 3 x 3 inch.  We can scan, starting from 0.5" and larger.  Because of special handling smaller than 3 x 3 scan are charged different.  

Larger Size Photos:

vdocs scans images up to 11.5" x 17".  And for all images between 3 x 3 up to 11 x 17 we are again one of the very few companies that charges the same low priced flat fee.

Card Board Images:

Card Board Photos will be reproduced manual, hand fed with our platten scanner.  

6. Indexing:

Do you want us to custom name or index the photos?  Normally images are named by numbers, like 0001,0002,0003.  We can add information to the scans that you will be able to identify the pictures easier.  Example:  5 Kids School Days 1 001.jpg,  5 Kids School Days 1 002.jpg.

 When we index the photos we create a separate Photo Folder for each Indexing Set.  You receive the images perfectly organized, structured in Folders with the correct File Name. This makes is very easy to keep your digital images organized.  And best of all you do not need to spend time doing this time consuming tedious work after the fact.  

7. Thumbprints:

Get an overview of all your digital prints.   With vdocs Thumprint printer prints you can choose between a 24 up or an 8 up on the 8.5 x 11 sheet.  

Prints are being produced on letter size, 80lb coated paper.  You receive a very nice printed set of all your images.  This makes a nice printed catalog of your images and the reviewing your photos lots of fun.  

8. Photo to DVD:

If you want to see your photo collection on your DVD player?    

vdocs can burn your newly scanned digital images on DVD and create a continuous slide show.    Each DVD contains about 120 minutes of video.  The amount of images depends on scan / image size and the amount of images.  A rule of thumb is that you can view about 400-800 images on each DVD with a 7 sec interval to switch from picture to picture.  

9. Quick Turnaround time:

Normal turnaround time for orders below 1,000 photos is 3 business days, for over 1,000 images 5-7 business days.  We can provide one-day turnaround time for jobs below 2,000 images time with a $25 surcharge.  This does not include shipping time.
